Rail Vehicles

Sealing and insulation components for rail vehicles

Protection of sensitive control elements in locomotives and carriages against environmental influences (water, cold and heat) and simultaneous reduction of noise; this was the assignment from a customer in the rail vehicle construction sector. Sahlberg solved this problem and now supplies various series of coordinated sets of elastomer and foam parts made of various materials and produced using various processes.

Cooler hoses in the electronics field of rail vehicles

Special low temperature flexibility (to -40 ¢ªC) and difficult installation conditions were demands which the cooling water-bearing parts of the central electronic unit of a locomotive had to meet. The engineers at Sahlberg developed a pre-formed hose manifold for the customer that solved this challenge by means of a special hose construction that is now delivered in series production.

Bellows for trams

A highly flexible seal for the pantograph of a tram was the requirement. Seemingly a simple task but not easy to solve due to the small quantity of units. Sahlberg developed a solution using a dipping process to keep tool investment at a low level without having to sacrifice a very flexible contour design or the required material properties. An economical solution without sacrificing technical effectiveness.
